Your first goal should be to just cover the cost. Be prepared for lose of money. Don’t throw it all away.

I find it’s best to try to stay patient and overlook the power trips of their authoritarian attitude and understand that this is probably the highest leadership role that they have taken thus far in their life. Not all of them are like this, but a lot are! Whether it’s, a good idea to visit your local health department and other regulatory bodies to understand what’s required for inspection and certification or read it for yourself. the individuals matter that you are working with. And don’t forget to price your items appropriately – you need to cover your costs and make a profit, but you also want to offer good value to your customers. It’s best if you pick a small menu that the recipes cross to reduce overhead. You’d be surprised at how many people try to do 30 items off of a truck. These trucks don’t often make it. 

6. Marketing is Key

You could have the best food in town, but if people don’t know about it, your business won’t thrive. Use social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to cater to your consumer base and promote your food truck. Share mouth-watering photos of your dishes, announce your location, and engage with your followers. Word-of-mouth is powerful, so encourage happy customers to leave reviews and spread the word. My suggestion is to start your advertisement low with google adwords, although there are many companies that offer different types I would strongly consider staying away for any paper advertisements. Do your due diligence, take to an advisor, the wrong path advertisement can be costly and have you owing for nothing per month, or even worse, per year. 

7. Be Prepared for Hard Work

Running a food truck is no picnic, it’s hard work and you have to be willing to work. You’ll be spending long hours on your feet, dealing with unpredictable weather, and constantly adapting to new challenges. But if you’re passionate about food and love interacting with people, the rewards can be immense. Remember, the most successful food truck owners are those who are persistent, adaptable, reliable, and genuinely enjoy catering to their customers. You shouldn’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves.
